The winter break probably came at the worst time for Holstein Kiel. After the impressive 5-1 victory against Augsburg, which marked the end of a five game losing streak, Kiel lost 2-3 to Freiburg at the weekend, despite a dramatic comeback in the final minutes when the game had long been decided. Football fans of the hosts are therefore not without reason worried about their team's survival, but they could take some consolation from the fact that both victories of the season were at least celebrated at home. Borussia Dortmund is not only travelling to the Baltic Sea with a weakened squad, but is also looking at a mixed form as they have not exactly been setting the world on fire recently, with only one win in their last six games recording 3 draws and 2 defeats. In the defeat against Leverkusen the defensive performance of the team was not on the level we are used to see. What's more , Dortmund has now even fallen out of the top six and their away record of just one win in the last nine games has raised doubts about a successful trip to the Holstein Kiel.
